I applied for an ICICI savings account but they need certified copying of bank statements/utility bills/passports etc.
Where can I get a certified copy from? Can I approach my current bank?
Thanks

If only the Labour government, which is responsible for this endless account opening hassle, was even 1% as careful about the money it was laundering. :rotfl:
The latest is banks wanting renewed proof of ID even when I've opened an account with them in the last three months
London solicitors tend to charge £5+ for each certified copy of ID. I guess a bank could certify its own statement but in Martin's brave new world of fair bank charges, they'd be justified in charging for services rendered IMO.
And don't assume that all banks/bss will send back your costly, certified ID.0 -
My bank were happy to certify a copy of my passport free of charge, on the spot. No problem.0

It'd be good to know which banks will certify copies of ID for free to enable us to move our money out of the said banks.0

I'd think people getting documents certified is one of the lesser timewasting activities seen in bank branches. Perhaps customers should get a certain number of minutes face-time in a branch per month to use as they wish, and get charged for any time they use over and above that.baby_boomer wrote: »It'd be good to know which banks will certify copies of ID for free to enable us to move our money out of the said banks.

I assumed they all performed this useful service but I might be wrong. In my case it was LloydsTSB.baby_boomer wrote: »It'd be good to know which banks will certify copies of ID for free to enable us to move our money out of the said banks.0 -

Worth a try - FWIW my bank had no problem stamping a photocopy ( which I provided ).
Hi, babyboomer,
I raised merry hell with my building society when they tried this. Best thing is to be awkward with them! Ask to speak to the compliance officer. The latest is banks wanting renewed proof of ID even when I've opened an account with them in the last three months
