Faulty Composite Door

I have had a new Composite Door installed unfortunately the paint had chipped off in various places so they decided it was faulty and sent it back to the Supplier to have tests to see why this had happened.I had a replacement door fitted and exactly the same has happened but they won’t replace this one they want to touch it up with paint .I still haven’t had the report back from the supplier regarding my other door plus the area manager was coming to see my door but she has been furloughed. The company have now backed me into a corner and said on Friday I have 14 days , if I don’t let them come and touch up the door they are going to take legal action against me.Bearing in mind the whole installation cost me £3,000 I’m not happy having a brand new door touched up? What are my rights I’ve had trading standards involved but was not happy with the outcome.Surely I’m within my rights to see the report and for the area manager to see the door before any drastic action happens. This whole thing has been going on for over a year as initially the company installed the wrong order! Please help I’m at my wits end thank you

Need more info . What brand of door and what colour ? it may have been factory sprayed . Do you still owe them money .? I'm sure you have the right to see what the report is . Where are the chips . are they the same place both times . Can you think why this is happening if the same place . could it be the dog/cat/neigbours pet / neighbour ect . This has been ongoing for over a year including a wrong order a door change and still a problem door . Are they members of any body do you have any written guarantee or doc to say about complaints , PM if you like I may help .
  • It’s a Chartwell green crown composite door I have signed a contract but it doesn’t state that pain will chip off !They belong to FENSA .I need all the help I can get please 🙏

The door may not be covered by fensa . depends on a few things but the amount of glass is the main factor . if they belong to fensa though they have to adhere to a competence of work scheme and also have a complaints procedure you can follow . You may have to ask them for the customer compliants form. You have a complaint against the installation company or the contractor who fitted it . Let them take it up with the manufactures . Not your problem . Chartwell can be difficult to match if they use a general touch up pen . Chartwell does not have a RAL no . Its become beyond touching it up anyway you're not happy and they should fix it .  You may need to look at getting your own report done at your own cost . Maybe the supplier isn't too bothered about one door and thought a replacement would please . Refuse to pay but don't ignore and keep reminding them they have a duty of care . But get onto fense by email and see what they can do to help you . Or let them take you to court (they wont) pics would be good to see . (I'm 35 years a window fitter and surveyor . Double glazing company owner and generally just a nosey person) I'm wondering if its been sprayed but not primed
  • very much doubt Fensa will  get involved unless it is an installation issue which this isnt .In the first instance let them try a repair i am pretty certain this is what trading standards have told you i am sorry but the company has the right to repair in the first instance give them that option and if your still not happy take it further . as greenface says above there is not an exact ral colour for chartwell green having said that you say the doors are painted so the company should  know the ral colour which matches
if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction
