Toilet constantly running from cistern into bowl
My toilet is a Cersanit Parva and has developed a very small run / leak from the cistern into the bowl. I have had the internal parts of the cistern replaced and a plumber take the cistern apart completely to check it over. No fault could be found.
I am keeping the water inlet closed at the moment - although it's not great to be opening and closing it all the time. If I flush the toilet with the inlet closed so the cistern does not refill, it still continues for run for another five minutes or so as if it's emptying out the dregs from the bottom of the cistern.
I have a second plumber coming out this week and he seems confident he can fix it, but I'm not as everything that can be replaced has been replaced. I'm worried I'll be racking up call out charges with no fix.
All ideas welcome!
TIA, Charlite

Its a simple fix, the fill valve should be set so the fill level is just under the overflow. Never came across one I couldn't fix, not sure why your first guy couldn't fix it, I have came across fill valves whose float gets stuck on the side on the way up which causes this as the slim models don't have much room so I put a bung in there to keep it off the side.
Take the lid off and have a look.0 -
You basically have 2 valves. A fill valve and a flush valve. The fill valve controls the filling of the cistern after you have emptied it. The flush valve is the bit that controls the water flow from the cistern to bowl. It sounds like the flush valve is leaking. To mend it you probably need a new flush valve and a close coupling kit. The close coupling kit is for toilets where the cistern connects directly to the bowl without a pipe which I think yours does. To fit it you have to empty the cistern and remove it totally. There is a chance you have a newer valve that can be replaced without removing the cistern or close coupling kit. Google 'flush valve' and 'close coupling kit'. Very easy fix. Less than £20.0

Thanks for the replies. As far as I can tell, the plumber has replaced both of those items, but I will take a look myself and see what I can figure out. Or get a second plumber out to take a look.0
