EDF Customer looking at new EDF Contract Tariff - EDF Exit fee's
Options
Hi
I received the MSE email a few days ago where it said EDF had a new cheap tariff, even for existing customers, I went on MSE CEC and compared, I am currently on EDF Simply Online Apr21v3 dual fuel fixed until April 21, the new tariff EDF Energy Simply Online 1 Year Fix Jun21v6 is predicted £111 cheaper and is fixed until Jun 21 which suits me as I prefer fixed tariff's and this will last for 12 months.
Looking at my EDF Simply Online Apr21v3 there is £70 early exit (£35 each fuel), looking at the documentation, it appears I would have to pay this exit fee, but since I am staying with EDF, will I be charged? I was with EON a few years ago in a deal with exit fee's and they allowed me to switch to a new cheaper EON tariff with no exit fees.
Has anyone done this? If I have to pay exit fee's it is probably not worth moving, I will just start looking within 90 days of my contract end so I do not pay the fee.
Thanks,
Paul.

From the Ts & Cs:-
- 7.10 You can end this contract at any time by giving us notice however you may need to pay an exit fee of £35 per fuel if this contract is ended more than three months before its end date – either by us in accordance with these terms, or by you leaving the tariff, changing supplier or moving home without taking the tariff with you.

I would not touch EDF with a barge pole purely because of their appalling attitude to smart meters: From what I read on the CEC, they charge exit fees if you physically cannot rather than will not accept their smart meter requirement. Penalising customers for something over which they have no control is unacceptable.1
