Round The World flight ticket - anyone done it ?

hubby and I bought a RTW business class ticket back in 2010 for less than £5k each I'm sure the price has increased a tad since then. It was organised by Trailfinders and was brilliantly done. As I remember we only needed to stick to the first leg (Lon to Hong Kong) and then we could make changes as we wished. The alliance was with BA/Qantas/AA maybe United ? best thing we have ever done.
I do remember that before we could fly to New Zealand from Sydney, we had to prove to the checkin agent we had an onward ticket from NZ which was easily done0 -

Thank loobs40, the idea of a flexible ticke would really appeal to Mrs Cat, whereas I like to know where I am from day-to - day ! I'll look closer at the One World offering, as to date i've been leaning quite heavily towards Star Alliance (for what its going to cost me, the Business Class experience is a big attraction. Sadly, some of the BA planes are well past their best and AA Business Class service (well, amy service on AA) can be a lot less than Premium, whereas someone like Singapore Airlines really looks after you)

I will reply to this more fully when I have more time but I would say do it! once this blooming virus is out of the way that is but just as a quickie, I would recommend Sydney as a stop, not sure how much time you would have for exploring more of Australia, Singapore would be well worth a stop, Hong Kong would have been in the past but not now sadly, the Pacific Islands are nice as well, Hawaii, Fiji, maybe you could do a bit of New Zealand? I will have a think about other places .....
I suppose I have done this in a way many years ago with a Air New Zealand flight that stopped in LA, free stop over in the Pacific and then we came back the other way, I can confirm by the way that the World was not flat!1 -

I can see that sort of idea deeply attractive to Mrs Cat.Stopover in (say) Singapore. Island hop around the Pacific, stopover in one of the US Southern States and then home if its a Winter trip. When I'm sat there with my RTW planner, I feel that I'm trying to do to much, in to short a period and I need to have a quiet word with myself !
