What is this seedling?

I recently tidied up a border and removed all sorts of stuff including an ash sapling. There are many in the area. Now I saw that the border has a lot of these (see picturr). They are tiny so the pic is magnified. 

Any idea what it is? Hopefully not ash..

    No, it's definitely not ash. So, that just leaves the rest of the UK's green plants!
    There's a lot of bark......could it be dogwood?

    I've no idea! If it is, doesn't sound like a good idea to have it right next to the house beneath the window?
    App tells me it can be peanut, helianthus annuus, cucumis sativus, citrus limon, capsicum annuum, and a couple of others. None with much confidence though.

    You might need to let it grow a bit bigger before you can identify it. Weeding when things are tiny often results in getting rid of self-seeded plants you wanted to keep.
