Tui amendment fee help

according to tui bookings can now be moved for free if traveling before 31/8

i have tried to move our holiday and seem to be looking at a £749 charge i was wondering if anyone had come across this

the holiday was booked on line last november, so i have been using manage my account etc to make the chamges

3 adults going to turkey on the 24th july i have tried to change this to 2 adults as one can not make it next year , going to rhodes in july 2021

it came back with a charge of £749 to do this ? is this because of a change of country or because of the missing passanger

has anyone come across something like this ?

Is the £749 charge definitely the change fee and not the difference in holiday cost?

I would assume it’s because a) the number of passengers has changed and b) there is a price difference between the resorts etc. 

A lot of people changing their holidays over currently are finding there is a price rise and even without this situation holiday prices change all the time even from day to day.

the 749 is for the amendment fee . the holiday we are trying the change to is £745 cheaper than the original

Was your balance fully paid? Just wondering if it was one of the holidays that they were letting you pay the balance 4 weeks before and that’s how it’s triggering the charge?

We have moved our entire package holiday to a different season, (May 2021), which the cancellation email said we could do at no extra cost. it is £400 cheaper at that time and they have charged us £971 amendment fee. Still trying to get through on phone to argue it.

Eventually got through to main number after being on hold for over an hour only to be told we had to ring another number regarding our amendment fee. 0247 628 0043 after being on hold for 1 and a half hours was answered by a very helpful tui staff member, has refunded amendment and raised a refund for the price difference as we had changed to a cheaper time. Great response, worth persevering.
