Think the birds are wrecking my roof.

We seem to get here enormous pigeons and crows and I can here there them sometimes walking about on the roof. I think they get on there to peck at the moss and leaves. but it tends to roll down the roof and lands in the gutters blocking them up. also the moss is sometimes in between the tiles and when they pull that out surely that may damage or dislodge the tile.
so I believe there is some stuff you can have sprayed on the roof which stops the moss forming, stops the birds landing, and saves my gutters. any one know about this or ever had same problem?

I could have written exactly the same post as you! Always had an issue with it but they seem to be so much worse this year.
No advice to give (other than sympathy) and look forward to seeing what other people suggest.0 -
I used moss clear from Smart Seal. It works very well (no connection, just happy customer).

Short of suspending netting over the entire roof, there is nothing you can do to stop birds landing on it.

not sloping ceilings but old house. 2up 2down. I suppose the roof is original, so to be honest could maybe do with new roof. god alone knows what that would cost. having said that no leaks and all seems solid.touch wood!.Davesnave said:
Have you sloping ceilings in upstairs rooms? If I could hear even a buzzard land on our roof, I'd wonder where the insulation had gone!clive0510 said:We seem to get here enormous pigeons and crows and I can here there them sometimes walking about on the roof.0 -
How much loft insulation is there? Although primarily for heat loss, it can work as a sound insulator too.clive0510 said:not sloping ceilings but old house. 2up 2down. there is no insulation. so maybe I'll start with that. i can do that myself rather than pay someone.but even so I may get someone to check out the roof.0
