How can I save the doors?

    Unless the hinge screws have mangled threads, it's not that difficult to take a door off its hinges, even for one person.  Hold the door up with one hand, while undoing the screws with the other.
    Replace the old screws if they are in bad condition, and the same for the hinges.
    If the screws slip in the holes when putting the door back on, shove a machstick into the hole, and snap it off to length.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
