Returning to work universal credit

currently claiming uc and self employed a little worried that I will be forced to find childcare for my 10 year old and that uc work coach will be putting this on me ,am I right in thinking that as I have the right at present to make a choice of whether or not to send him to school extends to the uc work coaches treating this the same way, I cannot work and look after a 10 year old at the same time.

Work searches are currently suspended but i don't know how long that will last for. Once they are lifted then you'll need to explain to your work coach about childcare. Are you a single parent?

Is your husband able to look after your 10 year old while you work? Unless the child has a diability they don't really take much looking after. This way you can return to work while your child is still at home.
  • Is your husband able to provide childcare? If so he can look after your child and you would be able to work under UC guidelines.

I understand that work search and work availability requirements were removed for 3 months from 30/3/20.

There is anecdotal evidence that some work coaches have been in contact this week but there is no certainty about the reports.

Note that the regulation does not suspend work related activity.
