Pure Planet final bill
Options
I wonder if anyone has any advice or has been through this before with an energy supplier. We have just switched to another supplier and had our last bill. Which states we owe over £769.99!!! They have admitted that they have failed to notify us, via 6 monthly reviews, that our monthly direct debit payments needed to be increased to cover the usage. We have given regular meeting readings, and we also have a yearly estimate done. It’s dual fuel and this is over a 2yrs 7mth period that this amount has accumulated.
They have admitted not letting us know, and offered a good will gesture if taking off £69.99 off the bill we use them.
Where do we stand with declining this good will gesture, refusing to pay, etc.
Many thanks in advance

Just to be clear, are you saying that at no point over the last 2 years and 7 months did you have access to a bill or statement that showed the current balance that you had accumulated, either via email or an online website for example?0

Take the good will gesture. You owe the money.
Monthly Direct debit goes into a pot to help pay your bills. You may use less, you are in Credit.
You may use more you are in debit.
You have used more you owe the balance of what you have used.
You could have accessed your account anytime.
If you refuse to pay then your future posts will be court, debt collectors. CCJ, credit file trashed etc. Good Luck! The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon1 -
It's up to you to check your bills and statements yourself. Are you as cavalier with your bank account and credit card.
As Hasbeen suggests, refuse to pay and see just how far it gets you - you've used the energy and so you've got to pay for it.
Take a bit more responsibility in future by checking your bills every month and making sure that your direct debits are covering your costs.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I thought that Pure Planet were 100% app based ? So surely there would have been a running balance shown when you input meter readings ??0
