Rodent Screen

Anyone know where to buy a rodent screen from if there is such a thing. There are insect screens available however want something a bit more robust as have a park nearby where rats have been seen around the lake.
Concerned rats could be come through the back fence and then inside the house in the warmer months whilst the garden french doors are open. The doors open outwards so need something to fit on the inside. Anyone have any ideas?

I think we have just what you need - although we bought ours not to keep rats out, but to keep house cats in.They are sliding doors, and fit inside our conservatory french doors. These open outwards, so we can have them both wide open in hot weather while keeping the kitties safe.We got ours from www.streme.co.ukYou need the pet screen doors - much tougher mesh than insect screens.2

Thanks for the link. We have the same problem as OP, except it's not rats, it's the neighbours' new kitten that keeps attempting to come in if our doors are open. It's not so much the kitten that's bothering us as the neighbours' kids who come shreiking after it, followed by their parents, tittering semi-apologetically that "Kitty's just exploring". This constant intrusion of privacy is getting on my nerves, so a pet door screen would be ideal as I could tell them that "Kitty can't get in, no need to follow her . . . !!".
Regretfully, the pet screens you recommended are more expensive than we would be prepared to pay. Do you think the cheaper telescopic insect screen door on the same website would serve our purpose, although it wouldn't be as sturdy? Grateful for any advice (apart from the obvious "keep your doors shut!") .Thanks for reading this tirade!1 -

Grateful for any advice (apart from the obvious "keep your doors shut!") .Thanks for reading this tirade! Our pet screen doors are wonderful - but I can understand that being happy to pay nearly £500 to keep our own pedigree house cats safe isn't the same as needing to keep a wandering kitten out!The pet screen mesh is super tough - our cats have climbed it, without damaging it at all. I suppose it depends on how determined your little intruder is - she could try to climb the fly screen and rip it. Streme customer services are very helpful, so I would try giving them a ring to ask what they recommend. Perhaps they could fit the pet screen to the telescopic insect doors? If not, they sell the mesh off the roll, so you could buy it that way and get a local carpenter to make a frame for you.Hope this helps. In the meantime, have you tried squirting the little explorer with a water pistol when she visits? You could also turn it on the kids..... (oops!)1 -

Hahaha! I absolutely would if I thought I could get away with it!Thank you for taking the time to reply, Silvertabby - I appreciate your help. Am now veering towards buying the pet mesh off the roll if I can find a youtube video on how to cobble together some sort of frame. Just wanting to do this as cheaply as possible as I grudge the expenditure...
