Santander Chargeback

Contacted Santander to raise a cash back request for easyJet flights cancelled in April. I Was initially informed I couldn’t claim as I had purchased more than 120 days ago, after I explained Santander’s policy to their representative, we decided claim was valid. I was then told that I had to contact my holiday insurance company to claim off my travel insurance, to explore all avenues before a cash back claim could be raised. I have contacted the insurance company, I am not optimistic.
Also I booked 2 flights, me and my wife have separate insurance policies, not sure if that will have an impact.
I think I am been given the run around.

What you don’t appear to have done is to ask EasyJet for a refund, or to arrange alternative flights.
The bank and your insurers will expect you to make the effort to obtain a refund, or re-arrange the flights with EasyJet. Only if EasyJet refuse to play, can you realistically go down the claim route.
Also, the lower cost insurance policies probably don’t include cancellation cover where the airline cancels.1 -
Have you already requested a refund from EJ, and if so, what was the issue? The bank will expect you to have attempted to resolve the issue direct w ith the supplierbefore they will process a chargeback. Are you referring to a chargeback, or an S75 claim?
If you are insured separately, you will have to make separate claims, that is all.No free lunch, and no free laptop

It's 120 days from when you expected to receive the goods/service, not from the purchase date.ghljh said:Contacted Santander to raise a cash back request for easyJet flights cancelled in April. Little bit of clarification here

Legally EJ should have refunded you within 7 days of them cancelling the flights.
I can't understand why Santander are making an issue of it, it's EJ who are breaking a law by not refunding you in time.
Telling you you need to claim on your insurance is a downright lie, you need to make a complaint about Santander for their total disregard of the Chargeback rules.

I requested a refund from easyJet 23 April and was informed that I would receive it within 30 days, I’m still waiting.
Looking at Santander’s cash back T&C’s I feel I have a valid claim, as EasyJet are not meeting their obligations.0 -
You have a valid claim, once EJ broke the law, you can issue a Chargeback, file a S75 if over £100 or start the process of court proceedings (with a letter before action).ghljh said:I requested a refund from easyJet 23 April and was informed that I would receive it within 30 days, I’m still waiting.
