    They're not that intelligent. They monitor mileage driven by the car and driving style. The only way to stop the monitoring would be to disconnect the device (if possible as some are hard wired into the car) and then deal with the warning saying you appear to have disabled the device etc etc.

    Indeed the first policy made it very clearly that other people driving the car could have an adverse impact on the insurance policy if their driving was not good.

    In terms of notifications I can see it both ways. If they sent a letter then someone would say they were expecting an email! Send a text and some people seem to change phone number all the time (although I’ve got the same number as when I first got a mobile). 

    Cancelling a policy is a big deal. They should notify the policyholder by all means at their disposal.
