Timeshare - Does anyone know if this is true?

I joined Club La Costa in 2003 for points and couldn't continue with the maintenance fees, so I tried to sell via ETOO and in the end surrendered back to Club La Costa in 2012 and they confirmed in email to me that I had surrendered my membership.
The other day I received an unsolicited call from someone saying they wanted to help people who had Timeshare (the Timeshare HelpCenter - Website Copyright 2019), or had purchased Timeshare in the past. It is possible, that if I have not got a notorised, officially stamped document to prove that I have no longer any legal tie to the company, then I could be liable for all the past maintenance charges and, indeed, in perpetuity for my family too.
I was offered a free consultation to speak to a legal advisor on the subject who said the same. They would look for any legal ties for me and get the document I need. Once this is completed, I can go through a Claims company who will fight to get my Timeshare Ownership money back, no win-no fee, and it will generally be double what I paid, plus the legal costs of obtaining the letter I need would be paid out too. This is all apparently new Spanish legislation regarding Timeshare and a little like PPI in that the Timeshare was mis-sold, the Claims Company have been 100% successful and take 25% as their fee upon winning.
I'm a little sceptical and astonished, that this hasn't been more in the news regarding timeshare companies and publicised as much as the PPI has been.
Apparently this has been going for several years and the last chance to claim will be around October/November of this year.
The legal fees would be around £4,000-£7,000 to obtain the letter required, and I cannot Claim until that letter is in my hands.
Does anyone know if this is true?
Any ideas how I find out whether this is for real?

It's for real, that is to say it's a real scam. The only people making money will be those you have paid the supposed legal fees costs to. DO NOT PAY IT.

It's rubbish and you have now confirmed to a company where you are and you have active phone number where they can continue to contact you.0

I also doubt very much that you can sign up to a contract with terms that will bind your children and decendents in perpetuity to a timeshare.
Well you can sign up to one, but I suspect when they take your decendents to court for non-payment of a contract they never signed up to, or were alive when it was taken out, that the contract would be ruled as unfair terms.
This is vultures preying on those they suspect are weak, chances are it is the same people (or close family/business partners) to the ones who sold the timeshare in the first place or they have paid a nice sum for a list of people who signed up knowing the whole legal action will reward (in their minds) the deserving victims (their golf buddies).May you find your sister soon Helli.

The grey area with a timeshare 'in perpetuity' is whether or not the timeshare company could keep after the executors for payment. If they potentially can, it could prevent an estate being finalised if the intended recipient of the timeshare refused to accept it.

Thank you, you have confirmed my views on the subject. They already knew my address, phone numbers and email address when they called me. Said they got from a Timeshare register, I researched that there is no such thing. I have reported to the EU Trading Standards Institute to add to their scams list.
Thank you for your responses, much appreciated.
Stay safe and well

Your details may well have been supplied to them by somebody who works for, or has worked for, one of the companies mentioned in the first post.

Are they asking for money up front? If you pay anything you will never see it again
Do you believe Fairy stories like they get double what you paid and have a 100% success rate?
Run as fast as you can0 -
It’s on a no win no fee basis, haven’t spoken to the company yet there going to do a zoom call tomorrow to discuss it with us, are there any company’s out there that do this for timeshares, it’s very difficult to get any information or help when dealing with timeshare issues.0
