Stihl and others make a cheaper battery saw, but I can't vouch for those. It depends how much work you have to do. For high up branch lopping I have a £50 battery pole saw from Lidl which works OK. I just don't expect it to last very long at that price! With the light, quiet, battery saws the hardest thing is remembering you still have a lethal weapon in your hands. The best things are that there seems little danger of kickback, the fuel is always available and it always starts.1

There is always a horse owner who needs extra grazing, we are always on the scrounge for free grazing for ours. Put the word out and they will be in touch.
We spot spray with a weed killer called Hysward, need to keep the horses out for 10 days afterwards. Our container never seems to empty, five years now.
With hedge and fence lines look at the ground maps. There will be a < mark, if it points from your field to the next door field then you are responsible. We have sawn out all the big stuff from the hedges for firewood, and do a cash job with the local contractor who comes in with a hedge shredder to keep them sorted..._1 -
I think adding horses will add to my problems LOL. Seriously though the intention was to get a horse before covid messed our finances up but I have owned horses before and know they don't keep the ground nice in the same way sheep would. At the moment with the cost/time factor it is not an option. I would like a happy hacker but would need a companion horse also and our land gets a bit boggy at the bottom of the field so it would take some management.
They had horses renting here a few years ago before we moved in and the owners at the time gave up on it because it was churning the ground too much. Not sure how many horses they had on though.
Thanks for the tip on ground maps - I will look into that.0 -
Goats would be even better, they eat everything in sight. No need for weed killer of any sort..._0
