Import tax/duty

Hi there..
I have recently returned from Australia and had to post a few of my item home as my luggage was overweight.  I have now received a bill from Parcel Force that I have to pay tax on my own items (which are all used)

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

And there is detailed info on doing your own import clearance already posted here in an appropriate forum. Which probably won’t help you much now but will at least avoid you getting stiffed by the “clearance fee” and limit any amount payable to the actual duty involved.

Did you ship as personal effects? Did you declare a value? You need to provide way more data to help, but chances are there's something declared that's triggered the charges to kick in...

I didn’t post the items as I had already left Australia and returned to the UK. I have now just found out my brother valued the parcel at $800 but the contents are not even worth £150!??
