Having new kitchen installed professionally and I note that the double plug socket for the washing machine and tumlbe dryer has being mounted underneath the sink unit below and adjacent to the water pipes and connections this to me is highly dangerous .
It was fitted by an approved electrcian.

most sockets are directly behind the washing machine. and low down near the skirting board.
ive never heard of any problems re getting wet and blowing up.

im not sure of the current lecky regulations here, but i doubt there is a problem.
    Get some gorm.

So if we use the same principal for bathrooms we should not have any lights in/on the ceiling in the room under the bathroom - just in case the bath leaks! ;)

I have a socket for my waste disposal unit under my sink and its been there for 7 years with no problems.

I suppose if you are concerned call in another electrician to check it.

    HI

A fused switch ABOVE the worktop should control the socket under. It helps anyone pulling the machine out from getting killed or ( in the case of a guy I met at gas assessment course) nearly killed.

    Corgi Guy.
Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)
