Switching Compensation?
Options
Both my gas and electricity were due to switch from Bulb to British Gas X on 10th April.
I submitted an opening electricity reading to British Gas X on 5th April, but the system wouldn't let me submit a gas reading. I then received an e-mail the next day to say;
"We’ve completed checks on your gas meter and found it isn’t one British Gas X can support at this time. This means we’ll have to cancel your gas switch, but don’t worry – you’ll stay with your current supplier. We may now supply your electricity, but we understand you may wish to switch to a dual fuel supplier. This will be easy because our British Gas X electricity tariff has no exit fee."
I proceeded with the electricity switch anyway, which switched as scheduled on the 10th April. I was then in contact with British Gas X again at the end of April who told me that they had fixed the gas problem and could then switch me in the first week of May. Closer to that time, I had to get back in touch regarding a Direct Debit issue and they told me the gas switch had failed again and that it would be escalated to a manager. It's now going ahead again and I'm due to switch on the15th June.
With this in mind, will I be entitled to receive compensation for the fact the gas has not switched within 15 working days? This has been an ongoing saga for 2 months. Since the switch was started effectively before 10th May, does this preclude me from the Ofgem rules and is it likely British Gas X will defend themselves by saying there has been "problems" switching over the gas supply and thus not covered by compensation rules?
Curious for input before I approach them.
Thanks,
Adam

Compensation for switching from 1st May.?
Believe you mentioned 10th April?
But better advice shortly.The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -

I started the gas switch at the end of March and it was due to take place in April, but was effectively cancelled, whilst the electricity went through fine. They re-started the gas switch at end of April, but was cancelled again. Then third time lucky, it was kicked off end of May and I'm due to switch in the next few days, so I'm wondering whether this means I am covered by the £30 compensation relating to the gas element of my energy switch?0 -
