Furlough in September for agency teachers

Are the government intending to furlough agency teachers in September if schools don't reopen? And if so, is the government's intention to furlough agency teachers throughout the Summer holidays? If you don't have any investment in a genuine answer to this question or sharing information which might help answer this question please don't feel the need to leave a comment.

Do you think anybody on here knows what the government are planning on doing? Although they have not been furloughing many agency teachers up to know so doubtful.

    Have you already been furloughed?
I understand the latest date to furlough anyone for the first time has already passed.
If schools do not open in September, when do you think they will ever re-open?
With the talk being of smaller class sizes, won't that need more teachers and there will be a shortage rather than surplus of supply teachers?

The government has announced a revised furlough scheme will be available for September and October, which involves employers contributing to furlough pay.  The government won't tell your employer whether or not to put you on that scheme, it's the employer's decision.

Also for paid leave, like school summer holidays for teachers, it requires employers to contribute, even under the current furlough scheme, so again it's your employer you need details from, not the government.

So in short - ask your employer and if they can't tell you yet, then no-one can.

The government don't furlough agency teachers, the agency does (if it chooses). As your employer (the agency) will have to bear part of the furlough costs themselves in coming months then I would consider it highly unlikely that they would continue to furlough staff. Perhaps now might be the time to consider applying for a permanent post.

I think what they wanted was somebody with a crystal ball or the chancellor to respond personally. As other have put very unlikely they will bring anything new out but who knows.

How do you expect anyone to know? Maybe Sunak knows but I'm not sure he has any idea at this stage either. I guess you could email him?
