Barclaycard - change card type?

Hi all, I have a question.
Currently have a Barclaycard platinum. The way that I use the card, for purchases, then pay off in full every month... I realise I would be better off with their cash back card.

BUT - the barclaycard I have is my longest standing credit relationship is that card (10 years plus) and has a decent limit on it.
Looking at a mortgage application early (hopefully, when we know what’s what) next year, so I don’t want to open yet another card (have an Amex also) and I don’t really want another search on my file for when mortgage application time comes.
is it possible to just change the “type” of barclaycard that I have, whilst keeping the time on the account ticking and avoiding new searches and etc?

Why don’t you just call them I hear you say? I’ve had limited success with Barclays in the past not understanding what I’m wanting, generic answers etc... so I’d like
to be fore armed with some info before I make the call?
thanks

You probably can, but with your mortgage application so far away, I would just go ahead and apply. It's not going to do any harm.
And if you only have the two cards, you could do with an additional back up or two.0 -

thanksYou will get a different card number and your account will changed to the rewards one, you will keep your account history so that won’t change on your credit report.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

I have one of the forward cards, and have had it a year, so I sent a secure message a few days ago about changing over to a rewards card. They replied within 24 hours to say they’d checked my eligibility and I could indeed move to the new card type. In order to so though, I’d have to give them a call, and phone lines are not as operational as they usually are, so I’ve got the approval to change, but can’t effect the change until their communications improve. I’m happy enough to wait though. Try sending a secure message through your web browser to ask if you can change from your platinum to the reward card - you’ll then get a secure message back to say yes or no - that’ll at least save you trying to get through by phone, and you’ll know if it’s possible in your case.
