Fitting carpet around semi-circle

Im am going to be fitting a new fireplace soon.  The hearth is a semi-circle.  Should I leave a small gap under it (i.e. raise it a little) so that the carpet fits under it a short way, or would the carpet fitter be able to fit neatly around a semi-circle?  Many thanks

The professional carpet fitters did a good job on my hearth, and it's not even a semicircle. It's a rather wobbly shape with rough cut stone.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

A GOOD carpet fitter will be able to do it.
