Expedia are still trying to give me a voucher for my hotel that cancelled my booking after informing them that I have called the hotel direct & have 2 emails from the manager of the hotel showing that they have informed Expedia to give me a full refund and they are just not coming back to my emails and when I call you talk to customer service who tell me that they do not have any request to refund me. 2 days after I called the hotel I then got an email from Expedia saying the hotel has cancelled & they are offering me a voucher. LIES they received an email to refund me. What can I do now??? Any help appreciated.

    Expedia are being a nightmare.
Nothing will be quick, but if you don't want a voucher than a Chargeback might be the best way.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

  • Hi I booked to go to New York in May and because of the pandemic it got cancelled. I received the Hotel and Transfer refunds very quickly but am still waiting on the fight refund. It was booked through Expedia with Virgin Atlantic. They said that the process was started on May 14th with the request for the refund to VA on the 16th, I was told it could take up to 12 weeks for the refund. Now I'm on the 12th Week and Expedia are asking for me to wait until the end of August as my case is still pending. Each time I ring up I do feel for the advisors, as there is nothing they can do apart from tell me the bad news. I have raised a 'Customer Complaint' of which I am told it can take up to 10 days for a reply.
Is there nothing I can do apart from wait??
    Can I go legal?

You can 'go legal' if you want a longer delay and extra costs but it would be a strange choice.

Virgin Atlantic have filed for bankruptcy protection (in the USA), not the same thing at all!

Indeed it is not the same thing.  It is part of the restructuring that was announced a few weeks back.

USA laws around bankruptcy are very different to the UK.  Virgin have filed for Chapter 15 protection. This protects their US assets whilst they are restructuring.

Not that the sensationalist UK press would want to accurately reflect that.
