Firstly, do make sure you are on the E.On 'Priority Services' register.
Secondly, are your bills based on actual meter readings or estimates?
You will usually see an 'E' next to a meter reading on the bill if it is an estimate.
If you want to post the meter readings and dates from your last bill it may help us to help you.
I expect you may also see @E.ON_Company_Representative:_Helena posting with some help here soon with any luck...

Do you take monthly or regular readings from the actual meter? And submit these?

Or do you rely on estimated readings from EON?

As above post the meter readings and dates and if they have A, E, or C against them.
What name of tarrif are you now on after 18 months?
Standing charge per day and KWh usage.

Gas usage is very high, more than double, average?

How are you using your gas heating, times, on all day? What temperature setup?

Switch to cheaper suppliers. If you used separate suppliers eg Zog & Symbio you'd be paying around £1340 a year, £112 a month. [Zog are great, Symbio are incompetent but cheap if you can tolerate their weird bills]. You'd lose the smart meter capability but reading 2 meters once a month isn't exactly stressful!

Your electricity consumption also seems a bit high for a gas heated home so there may be some savings to be made there too.

France29 - can you have a look at the bills which show the when the smart meter was put I. It is possible that the paperwork has not been correctly added to their system. There will be a sticker or card with the new meter - do the numbers on this agree with what's on your bills?
Although Eon may not be able to get info out of the meter remotely you will still be able to read your meter yourself. Some of the modern meters are not easy to read - the decimal point is easily missed and some have a small keypad where you need to press 9
Could you give us the meter readings from the beginning please. Can I just check that when you moved in you did ring the supplier at that time (was that BG) and give readings. Did you change suppliers after that  - if not you may well be on the standard (ie expensive) tariff.  What tariff does your bill say ?

Frances29 - when you say the |Smart meter doesn't work - are you referring to the toy that sits in your kitchen. If so that's not your smart meter but an In House Display.  Ignore it.
The Smart meter will be in your garage or outdoor meter box.
