Hi,
Does anybody know if it is possible to get a freeview box with a VGA output. I have a 20" widescreen LCD sitting doing nothing and would like to use it as a TV in the bedroom.
It seams a simple idea but the five I checked yesterday did not have this.
Cheers

Never seen a standard Freeview box with VGA output. Adaptor cables are available e.g. here but the screen must support a horizontal scan rate of 15.625KHz- most projectors, plasma and LCD panels do whereas CRT monitors don't. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
There are speakers in the monitor but if they prove to be useless then I will buy some powered ones.
Thanks for the link to the cable. It is quite expensive but cheaper than actually buying a TV.0 -
What I mean is, the cable/adaptor will pull the video from the freeview box but not the sound.
How are you ging to get the sound from the freeview box to the monitor speakers.
Good idea though and hopefully something can overcome the issue.0 -

Never thought of that. I suppose I could pull the audio from the SCART but that would depend on the unit not switching its outputs. Damn gets more complicated.0 -

The Gadmei TV6808E is perfect. Problem is the only one on eBay the seller cannot get to work. Wonder if I should take the risk or buy the lower model and attach a standard Freeview receiver. Do you know if it has the connectors to do this ?0 -
I'm been using a Gadmei 5820E with a Freeview Hard Drive Recorder attached for the last year and it works OK for me. Bought from Ebay seller in Manchester??, paid about c.£300
