Is my Security good enough for online banking?
anotherquestion

Hi folks,
Like most people I do online banking, and have got Malwarebytes prenium from RBS for free which I use.
In addition to this I used to use Avast free but got fed up with their nag screens, so switched to Kaspersky free, now it was ok but wouldn't automatically update only manually (it did tell me there was an incompatibilty issue with Malwarebytes but I didn't want to uninstall Malwarebytes)
Anyways since Kaspersky won't auto update, I uninstalled it and I am just using Windows Defender antivirus now instead, so combined with Malwarebytes Prenium would you consider that good enough protection for banking online?
I do know though that WIndows defender antivirus used to be thought less of than other third parties.
Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Defender is fine on its own and with Malware Bytes, Windows 10 has the better incarnation of it compared to previous versions where it was lacklustre. Most effective security: Common sense.2

Isn't malwarebytes premium a stand alone av which should be used instead of windows defender rather than alongside it?

No. MBAM is anti malware not anti virus.2

Thanks a lot for replies. think there might be a bit of a grey area with Malwarebytes where it crosses over to being an anti virus and detects the same things as an ant virus, maybe that was the reason kaspersky wanted me to uninstall it.
I feel safer with both though.0 -
You can have as many antivirus programs on the computer as you like but only one should be running the real time protection module. Its that that causes the issues, because having more than one scanning means they bicker with each other more than anything else.Same applies to various extras like Firewalls (you can get yourself into some serious bother should you end up with multiple firewalls on the go!) that are part of internet security packages these days.0

MBAM Premium is a full AV suite, you can;t run it and WIndows Defender at the same time. Personally I turn off MBAM real-time protection off and let Defender handle this side and just use it to run periodic scans for malware, as you would do with the free version.DoaM said:No. MBAM is anti malware not anti virus.0 -
See my post above, Windows Defender is disabled if you run MBAM Premium in full real-time protection mode as it includes AV protection as well.anotherquestion said:Thanks a lot for replies. think there might be a bit of a grey area with Malwarebytes where it crosses over to being an anti virus and detects the same things as an ant virus, maybe that was the reason kaspersky wanted me to uninstall it.

MBAM Corporate (which I have) must be different to MBAM Premium then. I have both it and Defender active on my own laptop.neilmcl said:

To run both at same time you need to turn off the registration of malwarebytes in Windows Security Centre
. Go to
Malwarebytes / Settings / Security / Turn off registration

Well Malwarebytes Premium and Defender do run at the same time on my windows 10 pro as well, but I do think that different computers even with same OS can sometimes throw up different things.0
