Vietnam Flights, July

Good afternoon guys I hope you can help.
Myself and my good lady are booked to fly to Vietnam on the 5th July, as it stands just now, the Vietnamese border is closed to all international travel. My flights are still saying they are active. Where do I stand with cancelling? do I wait for them or do it myself?
I bought the flights thru an agent online and not directly with an airline. The agency has been in touch to say that the flights could only be cancelled by myself and they would issue me a voucher, what If I didn't want one and preferred a refund.
The agent also said to let them know 48 hours prior to your departure in case we decide not to travel in order for us to avoid no show penalties, what does that mean?
Thanks,
Hoggie

if they fly and you choose not to go- even if borders are closed then you have no right to a refund. Best thing to do is to wait as long as possible before cancelling in the hope the airline does. Who are you flying with? Keep an eye on the airlines website to see if its still bookable. Airline generally takes control of flight about 24/48 hours before which is when you can deal with them

Assuming the OP is in the UK, there is still a FCO 'no travel' advisory out so a flight commencing in the UK may not fly anyway. If that happens they will be entitled to a full refund.I don't see how a flight would take off if it knew it wasn't going to be able to land, that makes no sense.0

Hi Hoggie,
Interested in this. We are due to fly to Vietnam on 11th July with Emirates.
Emirates have changed 3 of the 4 flights so far. Currently they have our flight from UK to Dubai arriving the day after our flight from Dubai to Vietnam. Bizarre.
I'm 100% sure the flights will be cancelled eventually, but like you, I'm waiting.
