New credit card where I can specify low limit?

I want to get a new card to use just for net purchases, CPAs etc, and to keep separate from my other card usage. I also want a low limit with this card as an additional, admittedly slight, protection. No fixed fee is a must and I don't care about the rate as I'll pay off each month. Does anyone know of a card that allows the customer to specify the limit at the time of application (obviously lower than the provider's own default limit for my profile)? Googling with relevant terms has proved difficult!

Go for any card and then just lower the limit to what you want.
Alternatively, go for something like aqua or Vanquis.
However, as it's not your money if someone uses your card without your permission, it's not necessary to lower the limit.1 -
Just take the limit your offered.

It's also the CPAs I'm bothered about. I don't want to be £k's down while I argue a service providers charges (not the cc company) are wrong.Deleted_User said:Go for any card and then just lower the limit to what you want.

The CPAs would be more of a problem with an insufficient credit limit as you'd be £ks down plus overlimit fees.0

Are you worried about spending too much? If so, you shouldn't get a credit card at all yet until you have the financial discipline.
As for worrying about "protection". That's a non issue.1 -
The solution to this is to check your account regularly enough to spot an unauthorised transaction as soon as it happens.gwbuk said:

The scenarios you're talking about sound like they'd fit a pre-paid card better than a credit card.0 -
Remember a card with a high utilisation of the credit limit, which you're likely to have with a card with a low limit, can affect your ability to get credit. In regards to CPAs that's easily solved - don't put anything with a CPA on the card.1

Not always true unless you only pay the minimum amount, a low limit card even with high utilisation as long as the balance is paid in full after the statement is produced can increase your ability to get credit.MinuteNoodles said:Remember a card with a high utilisation of the credit limit, which you're likely to have with a card with a low limit, can affect your ability to get credit. In regards to CPAs that's easily solved - don't put anything with a CPA on the card.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Depends on individual circumstances.dr_adidas01 said:

Scenarion 1: Someone has a history of bad debt / missed payments, or no credit history at all.
Adding a card with a low limit, which carries high utilisation but is cleared fully each month - yes, would over time be likely to increase this individual's creditworthiness.
Scenarion 2: Someone has no history of bad debt and a long history of managing cards with high limits well.
Adding a card with a low limit, which carries high utilisation but is cleared fully each month - no, would over time be likely to decrease this individual's creditworthiness.1
