Post Office Home Insurance

Hi can anyone help me please. Purchased home insurance with the post office 2 years ago, I moved house and cancelled my insurance with them and paid the settlement fee which was all confirmed via email however the very next day a company called Premium Credit contacted me via email, they knew my post office insurance reference number and exact monthly amount I had been paying, they told me I owed then money and that the post office had passed my details to them.  I responded saying I didnt, they sent me up to 4 emails per day chasing for money and making threats then 3 weeks later took money without my permission from my bank account (I certainly did not give them my details). My bank blocked that direct debit and the Premium Credit company from taking more of my money and I did get a refund. The post office will not help me at all, I have made a complaint to them online and in writing, they insist they didnt sell my details on and said they would talk to the 3rd party companies they use to see if they can help. Premium Credit are sending me threatening letters and I cannot speak to them as automated at other end. The post office promised to ring back and they havent - this is now making me ill, the amounts that premium credit say I owe is increasing. Please can someone help me with some advice on this?

Premium Credit are an insurance premium finance company
Sounds like Post Office use them to finance your premium, hence why they know your policy number and instalment amount. (presumably some payments were made by you to them - check your bank statement)
Post Office should have got a refund from the insurers for the remainder of the year and passed it to Premium Credit
Ask the Post Office for a full explanation of what has happened
