Can I renew my passport?

Not due to go away until March and I know this might change but my passport has expired am I still able to renew it?

Yes, online renewal , just post off the old passport afterwards.
If photos required then look for newer digital photobooth which gives you a unique ID number to enter online or download one of the free apps that allows you to take photos in the correct size and formatEx forum ambassador
