Paintwork Issues On Used Car

Update on this case. We have now discovered that the dealer in fact did carry out these awful repairs. On the advert and when we purchased this vehicle there was no mention about the repairs carried out.

Where do I stand? 

I’ve tried contacting the motor ombudsman but the dealer is not covered by them.

You stand exactly where you stood before - you bought a car that you chose not to inspect fully particularly when it came to your particular expectations re quality. The time that's passed now it always going to be an issue for you and the issue may be perceived to be subjective i.e. it's not physically broken/subject to a warranty.

If you think you have a case get an independent report on the car and an estimate to rectify the faults you claim where there when you bought the car and go to the small claims court, if you think your case is strong enough.

Personally I think as the 'faults' are cosmetic and not mechanical (dangerous to you or other road users) you may not have much joy.
