Nobody is on anybody side, the only thing that matters is the contract. People have just said they think the nursery has gone above the contract.

We are not professionals here, we just give advice. I'm sorry you've come here and didn't get the answers you would have liked. This does happen sometimes. Sorry though that i have to agree with the others, you've been given 4 options and they are being very fair with you. I'm not sure what else you were expecting from them.

All sounds very reasonable from the nursery
Some would say return @ pay or loose your place0 -
The nursery are not wanting to charge 20% for 'administration'; they are charging 20% for the option of keeping a place open rather than giving it to a family who will pay 100%. With parents currently unable to use family to cover care, there is going to be an increased need for nursery/childminder places. It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.0 -
I'm not clear on what it is that you are wanting them to do that doesn't fit within those four options.
As for advice, I'm afraid you have already been given the only advice that is relevant i.e. check the terms of your contract with them to see if it covers any other scenario, but be aware that you may not be able to return to that nursery in the future.
As regard to the idea of the retainer being "just an admin fee", I suspect there is a bit more to it than that. The nursery will need to balance staff to children ratios so, if holding places open, probably will have more staff than they will have fully paid-up children. They will still need to pay those staff.0 -
I’m sorry you feel that people aren’t understanding why you are upset regarding this but I do agree with other posters the nursery have actually been incredibly flexible with the options you have been given.
A 20% retainer when they could offer the space to a new child where they could claim 100% fees is generous to say the least.Your nursery values it’s clients and you’ve admitted yourself that you have heard stories about other nurseries not acting in the clients best interests, it’s your choice how you want to move forward.0
