hi, ive been told by stena that I cant get my money back. only a voucher to use by Nov this year. I don't need to travel to Holland now as the event was cancelled because of the virus. I bought my ticket with my bank card and Barclays say there is nothing they can do. Any help/advice very much appreciated

If you bought a non-refundable ticket, then no. The service is available for you to use if you wish-the cancellation of the 3rd party event is not Stena's responsibility. Barclays won't do a chargeback because the supplier has not failed to supply the service.
You can either accept the voucher or try to claim on your travel insurance. No free lunch, and no free laptop
