How close to my house can i build decking baring in mind the damp proof membrane? Is it okay to leave a 5cm gap between the brick and the wood and just line it with gravel? The finished decking will be about the same height as the damp proof membrane course.
Can it be right up to the house if it has a decline on it, away from the house? Only problem ill have with this is i will have to decline it away from the house downwards and tilt it aswell as its going in a gap between 2 right angled walls if that makes sense so dont know how much trickier it will be?

You can go as close as you want and in my opinion, 50mm is quite a big gap. I’d be expecting to see something in the range of 10-25mm. If you’re opting for decking, you’ll have gaps between those anyway wouldn’t you? If so, then you can replicate the same gap to the wall edges.
As for laying the decking to a fall, not as essential if you’ll be having natural gaps between them. If it was more along the lines of solid paving for example, then you’d look to incorporate a gradient. If you did end up going down this route, the slabs would just be cut with angles in order to provide the slope in more than one direction.
