What counts as significant changes?

So forgetting about quarantines, FCO advice and air corridors, what counts as significant changes to a holiday that would enable a refund?

I'm due in Fueartaventura on the 18th July for a TUI Platinum AI holiday with my wife and son. From looking at info available there will likely be very limited space at the pool, little to no activities, no buffet, no kids club, no mini disco, no evening entertainment and no bar to sit in. The whole holiday will be under strict and uncomfortable social distancing rules. It sounds awful and I'd have never in a million years paid to go in those circumstances.

So just wondered where I would stand if they tried to force it? I can change the holiday to next year but I don't want to and don't see why I should. I will have no idea what I'm booking or what the situation will be next year and my money will be tied up for a full year for a service that could not be delivered. It's also a lot more expensive.

    Significant changes seem to be a bit vague to be honest.   The obvious are, change of airports, change of destination, change of hotel but as for amenities this seems to be complicated.   People look for different things on holiday.    But if you have booked solely because your child would be entertained in the day and they have said it will not be possible now then I think that is a significant change for you.   But has anybody from the hotel  actually told you all this or is it what you imagine it will be like (there is a difference).    The hotel may be planning on other things by way of keeping holidaymakers happy?  Common sense seems to tell me that even TUI will not want a lot of complaints about a holiday that is taken. (maybe am too much of an optimist?) 

    Other than cancel now and rebook for next year as TUI are offering you now, If the flights and hotel are operational at the time you are due to travel I think you may have no other option other than to go.   I doubt they will offer you a refund now for it.  You may get a refund if they state that the majority of things you booked for will definitely not be available at the time.
