Next door property - what should I have been told!

Hi guys! Sorry I’m new to all this and this is my first post! I have a question you may be able to help with.
In August last year I bought my first property, a small but lovely mid terraced house (after a decade of saving!), initially everything was great! In November my neighbours moved out as they were moving to a new property. I then noticed there was a lot of coming and going from a maintenance firm, who are synonymous with all the housing association/ council properties in our town. In short the new family that have moved in are a nightmare - I won’t go in to details, as this is not what the post is about.
What I want to know is should I have not been informed that this was a housing association/ council property before buying the house? And if yes, who is responsible for informing me? I can’t find anything in the searches that would have told me that....

I’m pretty sure they don’t have to tell you a thing! I moved into mine and I’ve been in it 3 years and only found out other week next door is a set of flats! Lol.4

FWIW, "I have absolutely no idea" would have been a perfectly acceptable response, if they didn't know....or have I made a FTB error here?
Any property can have bad neighbours move in - owner-occupier or tenant.
The only error here seems to be to assume that "council house" somehow automatically means "bad tenant".
But, given that you still don't even know whether it's private rental, HA or LA, and are just assuming based on the sign-written van that was outside for a while...4 -

The only disclosure that has to be made by the vendor is on the Property Information Form: this should reveal any neighbour-related disputes or issues. From what you have said, there were none: the issue is solely with the new tenants. It's entirely up to you to check out the ownership status of the adjoining properties, if you wish, in which case the vendor has to answer any questions truthfully. But you failed to ask the question, so no compo I'm afraid.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

There's millions of tiny details like that with every house, if one is important to you, it's on YOU to do your homework.0 -
I think you are better off concentrating on finding out who they are renting from, keeping a log of whatever is causing a problem and then complain to whoever they are renting from.1
