Additional Filter for Electric Vehicle Charging
As a member of the Cheap Energy Club and soon to be an Electric Vehicle owner, hopefully, I've found it difficult to gauge which suppliers it would be advantageous to consider, due to the likelihood of off peak vehicle charging. Is there an argument, bearing in mind, the increasing ownership of EVs for an additional filter to select this type of provider?

Comparison sites only currently compare either single rate tariffs, or E7 tariffs.
You can try these if you like (assuming you have a compatible meter)
Otherwise, you may find one of the specialist EV tariffs available from a small number of suppliers may be better suited to your needs.
Zap Map has a list of most of the specialist EV tariffs here:

To be honest, i've currently got an e-golf, and I found that the "EV tariffs" weren't that advantageous, as they day rates tend to be quite a bit higher. I just took the cheapest electricity tariff and pay about 10p a unit for all electricity. That has worked out cheaper in our household than a specialist ev tariff. Mind you, it depends how much you charge your vehicle!0

Presumably you could have a separate meter and supply from a different company used just for the EV?If you can get a few hours overnight at 5p/kWh without changing your daytime rate then it would be worth it.0

I am a big fan of the Octopus Go tariff. I changed from OvO Ev tariff about 4 months ago- they were hopeless. Took over a year to fit a charger to my garage, fitted the wrong smart meter so it could not use economy 7 and I had to do the project management myself. My bills are about 50% less with OctopusEnergy. 5p/KW hr between 00:30 and 04:30 (selected by the smart charger) and 1.5p/KW hr less than OvO the rest of the day (14.02p/KW hr). Gas is cheaper too. Check it out. Standing charges are also slightly less.0
