It may sound daft but is there any difference between a digital tv receiver and a freeview receiver ?
We live in an area where freeview is as yet unavailable but we have digital tv through a satelite dish in our lounge and I was wondering if I bought a digital tv receiver for our tv in our bedroom would the digital tv receiver work or not
Thanks

There are three main types of digital TV receiver: those that work with terrestrial (Freeview), cable (Virgin), and satellite (usually, but not always, Sky).It may sound daft but is there any difference between a digital tv receiver and a freeview receiver ?
Nearly all the receivers on sale are for Freeview, so they'd be no use to you. You need an extra satellite box to connect to your existing dish.
There are plans to launch a non-Sky free satellite service in the new year. Until then, certain channels (notably those run by Channel 4) aren't available unless you go through Sky.0 -
Thanks for that Welliesorter.0

You can also connect the aerial input of the bedroom tv to your Sky digibox RF2 output using a coax lead and control it with a Magic Eye, or buy a wireless video sender.0
