Changing Easyjet Flights

Due to fly 1st August 2020, but want to change them to July 2021. Flights for next summer are not being released until August 2020.
i am thinking I can change flights now free of charge to a random date next year, like March and when July 2021 is released, change again.
i believe a change with 60 days or more will be free so both changes should be free. Or if I wait and do nothing, there is an option my orignal flight won’t be cancelled and it would then cost me £32 per flight to change as it’s within 14 days.
Shall I change them now and go with what I said?
thanks in advance for any advise

If you know you're not traveling in Aug I personally would rearrange them, as when EJ stay flying again they might remove the free change. Just make sure to find flights of the same value as your old ones.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Have you checked if you can still make new bookings on your original flight? If you can't book flights anymore, then it's possible that EJ have already made the decision to cancel the flight. This seems to be the way they operate - they stop taking bookings a few weeks before the flight and then, a week or two before the departure date, they cancel the flight. I'm in a similar situation (although I'm supposed to fly in early July) - the flights are allegedly sold out, so I'm waiting for a cancellation. So, you could wait a couple of weeks to see what happens, but you might lose the right to change free of charge (as Life_Goes_On pointed out). EJ are aiming to have flights on 75% of routes by August, but with reduced frequency, so there is still a risk your flight won't go ahead. See https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/jun/02/easyjet-resume-flights-european-routes-august-covid-19-restrictions-lift.Personally, I'd wait a couple of weeks and keep checking if EJ are allowing new bookings on your flight. The government don't seem to be relaxing the quarantine rules, and Jet2 have just announced that a delay in the resumption of holiday flights, so I don't think EJ will change their position anytime soon. Ultimately, it's a gamble! Sorry!
