Booked Car hire through EasyJet (flight now cancelled)

Just information really. I booked car hire through easyjet and the flight was cancelled. Called EJ and they said my contract was with CarTrawler . I explained that EJ had taken my money and they should refund. They refused and said it was CarTrawler. Despite my best efforts they would not budge. Flight was going to be refunded, up to 90 days. 

Called CarTrawler, without any reference (as I had booked via EJ) and they are based in Dublin (although London number). They were helpful and explained they are the EJ car rental arm. They agreed my cancellation (no charge) with the promise that it would take 30 working days + 5 working days for the bank to process.

Hopefully all will work out ok and I will not book direct again. Currently EJ say I have cancelled my outbound flight only (?) even though the form online is for the whole booking. They are looking into how that could have happened and also saying that I may only get half my money back given the other flight is not yet cancelled. Laughable really but I am sure it will get sorted. Several phone calls to their call centre  and no doubt I will need a few more.

They are helpful but seem to not be able to answer my queries.

You can't get a refund on the return leg until they cancel it. Otherwise it is you that is cancelling, not EJ.
