Missing Bus Refund due to Cashback Website? Airplane ticket refund worries.

So I've just had a really concerning thought. I've just contacting the bus company about a cancelled monthly ticket due to coronavirus as it's been 11 weeks since I requested a refund. I was told a refund was processed on 24/3 to the account used to buy the ticket.
I said I've received no refund so they advised to call my bank. After speaking with the bank rep I raised the question how might a cashback site affect a potential refund. I was told it shouldn't be an issue and to contact the bus company again for proof of refund and account details.
As I'm waiting for this proof I'm just wondering: is it possible for my refund to have been issued to the cashback website/account?
I login to my cashback profile; I click on a link which sends me to the retailer (bus company); I login to my bus profile; I enter my personal and credit card details; I purchase the ticket (which is reflected on credit card statement as payment to bus company and NOT cashback site); I get cashback.
Anyone have any experience with this? Has anyone had a purchase (any) made through a cashback site which was successfully refunded to their debit/credit card? I'm going crazy as I've purchased my flight ticket the same way as my bus ticket. What's even worse is that I bought it via Opodo. Now I don't know where a potential refund from them might go. Thanks guys.

When you use a cashback site you merely access the partner retailer through an affiliate link, you arent making any sort of payment whateoever through the cashback site. All refunds would go to the merchant who took the payment in the first place (the retailer, in your cases being the bus and travel company), but they may reserve the right to tell the cashback site to remove any cashback you got for it.1

Yes, I have foreseen this cashback removal possibility and that would be fine. I see what you're saying about not making any payment through the cashback site, but I have a really strange feeling. Bus company has pretty good track record (unlike others) when it comes to handling refunds. On the day I requested a refund it had been approved which was reflected on the bus app's virtual ticket.bradders1983 said:When you use a cashback site you merely access the partner retailer through an affiliate link, you arent making any sort of payment whateoever through the cashback site. There is no need to have a "strange feeling", I have explained how it works 😉0

As explained above, nothing to so with using a cashback site.
