Natwest trying to force me to default despite no arrears.

I took out a loan for £5500 to clear my partners credit card, as the interest rate was lower on the loan than the credit card, and we were unable to transfer the balance to a new card to try and make use of an attractive deal.
The bank account linked with the loan had a £700 overdraft. I had tried to get it reduced, and was refused on a few occasions (reasons unknown)
The loan paid off my credit card in full, and also the aim was to clear my overdraft so I could change banks to an account at HSBC where I could get my £500 overdraft with a slightly better deal and a cash bonus for joining.
I switched through Uswitch after about 3 months of paying back my loan payments.
The bank account switchover went through smoothly, and companies could still access my funds via various direct debits, as usual and as planned
I had a snotty phonecall from Natwest stating that my account was still £550 in arrears. Which was kind of expected, as typically, the period was over a bank holiday.  Unfortunately my wages went in late, and some bills that didnt come out til the 1st came out earlier. So I had to wait 3 days for my money to go in and cover the defecit.
Natwest weren't willing to wait.
They said if I didnt pay them my loan and overdrawn account back in it's entirety, they would force me to default the loan.
Bearing in mind I have not missed a payment (even til this day)
I managed to stave off the threats by paying off the £550 on the credit card (the loan was a  pointless exercise  ) and then I had to pretty much beg them not to default the loan which I was still able to make payments on, and they had already received payments, so WHY?
The loan payments have gone on as normal, its now 5 months since I took out the loan.
HOWEVER
Today I receive a letter from Natwest collections stating ive missed payments

I went on my phone app and spoke to HSBC, the loan direct debit is still in place and still active. There is money in my account waiting to be debited.
I phoned NATWEST and as a gesture of goodwill, I paid a monthly payment, and I was asked if I could pay the whole lot, and I refused on the basis that the payment plan was still in place, and there is sufficient funds in my account for them to take. As planned, on the 1st of every month
They then accused me of stopping it, HSBC has clarified that it is still active.
I have approached the ombudsman about this

Any advice gratefully received

Could you bullet point the key points without the emotion, clarifying what payments were made, not made or made late and on what accounts.

    Then it will remain confusing...
Just edit your original post to make it clearer.
The Ombudsman will not consider your complaint until you have gone through the supplier's own formal complaints process and either received no reply, or a deadlock letter.

Way too confusing a read - if you want some advice you need to bullet point it and make it brief.

    Please check this out.
It used to be that if you had a Nat West loan you had to make repayments from a Nat West account.
This might explain problem you are having.

First page of the NatWest loans website says you must have a current account, mortgage or credit card with them to have a loan.
You're now in breach of the loan T&Cs because you've closed the current account therefore the loan becomes repayable in full.
