Burglar alarm system help

Hi guys. Recently bought a house and I’m looking at replacing the alarm system for a new wireless one. So first I need to take down the old wired one. There’s no lights on the control panel where you’d normally key in the code to activate the alarm and I cannot see a mains wire going to the outside sounder or the control panel. There’s just one wire going from the control panel to the sounder. Is my alarm already dead? Can I just cut it out? I’ve attached photos of the wire in question and the control panel. I’m about to start decorating in the back bedroom where the wire is located and need that wire gone!

The outside sounders are not mains powered, they get power for their internal battery via the 6/8 core cable from the control panel. That keypad doesn't look powered. Where is the control panel? It could have the mains switched off (either unplugged or switched/fused spur off) and the battery removed/gone flat.
Texecom make quite decent stuff, including the Veritas range. I'd far rather get that working again than install a wireless system as it could be most of the wiring etc is still intact.

That first picture is simply the keypad, not the control panel, that will be somewhere else. Also looks like someone's had the front of the keypad off with the buttons being recessed as they are. I have the Texecom Veritas R8 plus, which that is by the looks of it and it is a very solid, dependable system.
