Shielding and furlough

hi I have been shielding since March and with mutual consent been on furlough,with shielding coming to an end do I wait for my employer to contact me and continue on furlough or go back to work the business is s key business and has been operating throughout (hgv garage)

    Start by contacting your employer. If you haven't received the NHS shielding letter then there's no reason why you can't return to work. If you've had the letter then you may have to claim SSP from your employer.

    Your employer has done you a good turn in the first place by furloughing you, they didnt have to. Of course they could continue doing this but they dont have to.
  • Didn’t get the regular letter was given one by my consultant at hospital and am aware they didn’t need to,but at the moment am not costing the firm anything, and when it was introduced it had  a broad remit was just wondering whether they will continue to furlough me thru July as furlough extended,or go back, as even though shielding will have to risk it at some point!

    I would contact the company and see what they say.

     at the moment am not costing the firm anything

    That's not correct. It does cost the employer to furlough staff.

    As above it costs them in time, who ever manages the payroll and you accrue holiday still. So granted at the moment not a big expense but in the next few months will be costing a lot more.
