Hi all,

I’ve checked my credit report recently and noticed I have 2x HARD searches from Moorcroft, my question is can Moorcroft carry out these HARD searches which obviously has negative effect on your credit worthiness ?

Thanks in advance..

    Yes they can.
And 2 hard searches will have little to no effect on ones “credit worthiness”.

Where are you seeing them as hard searches?

Do you have debt currently being managed by Moorcroft?

Yes I got 1x account with Moorcroft, I’m seeing them on Equifax but I was under the impression that a Hard search needs to have consent from the personnel and not as they wish !!!

You already consented to the searches in your original contract. A search can also be carried out without consent for a legitimate purpose.

So an original contract say with MBNA carry out a Hard search when taking out a contract Ok, then they can pass on the authorisation to any debt collecting companies without my consent is this what your trying to say ??

But you DID give your consent.  In the original agreement you would have given consent for the lender, any agent of the lender or other interested party to perform such checks.

They are allowed to do this, with any institutions in which you hold a financial product/account, you agree to this in the T&C's you sign at the start of any agreements you have.

no true! too many hard searches within 6 months WILL decrease your score.  I think 2/3 within 6 months. so expect next hard search to reduce your score.
