My cc bank Sainsbury’s advised me on phone that chargeback was only available from debit cards and I must use section 75 with them? Is this true?

No.
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/visa-mastercard-chargeback/There's valuable hidden protection on Visa, Mastercard and Amex credit cards, as well as debit and charge cards. It's called 'chargeback' and means if you don't receive the goods you bought, you may be able to get your money back.
