Keep saying to yourself "we have enough food, we have enough food"

Our house feels a complete mess and we don't have rabbits to blame.

    Morning,
Not much news on the debt except my SC payment still hasn't been cleared by Paypal and so they've charged me a £12 late fee, SC have to pay Paypal by cheque and it's up to them when they clear it so I think this is really unfair.
Child benefit came in and I've sorted it into pots, EF is looking healthier now.
I had a really good sleep last night, was shattered I think I wore myself out on the weekend cleaning so I had an early night and woke up at 8.
The bunnies are settled now and I need to start a new bunny pot as we are pretty sure one of them is a boy so I need to save for neutering, which isn't cheap. I think I have a couple of months but will take them to Pets @ Home to get the genders first as that may buy us some more time.
We have no spends planned until the end of the week and then it's payday again, I don't like wishing away time, but I am enjoying being my total debt going down, after xmas i am going to review my budget to see if I can pay more towards the debt as we are currently comfortable and we've lived so long with so little I sure that we could pull the purse strings a bit tighter

    Hi
Its Pay Day woohoo! all money so far sorted into pots.
Great news from Finance in work that my pay will definitely be increasing in September (Im still waiting on news from HR with my new contract though) but also I will be back paid to this month, so next month I will have £1,300 more in my pay than this month which will all be going into my EF. My UC will stop then and for me that will be a relief as its been inconsistent in the past and now I will have a consistent income.
This weekend I will be cleaning mostly and sorting out my fridges, everything feels really disorganised. I need to pop out to buy school uniform for the kids, I have £70 in my budget for clothes which means it will be ASDA for clothes as that should be affordable and they don't need shoes. I have a futon to sell so if I manage to sell that i will have more cash for uniforms of needed.
I bought my 3 monthly toilet roll supply from Who Gives a !!!!!! today and had a 30% discount.
My cheque still hasn't cleared with PayP@l and I can't get through to them on the phone, I have the cheque number and payment date from SC so hopefully i can get the late charges refunded

    Morning,
School uniform purchased £120 so I've set up a new pot to pay this out of next year as i only had £70 in the pot this year so I borrowed from the EF - I will pay this back when my UC is paid on the 10th.
Today I am line drying some clothes, popping to the shop to get some bits to top up the fridge, which is empty and continuing my tidying.

    Morning Nat
I started reading your Diary this morning, but just wanted to hop ahead and say how fantastically well you are doing!  Challenges with DH, Little Ones to look after and working as well, whilst still finding time to deal with the practical and emotional side of the debt?!  You are amazing!  You should be so incredibly proud of yourself.

    Morning,
I'm an idiot, forgot to move my SC payment into my account so the DMP payment hadn't gone out this morning I moved the money and it has already gone out.
PayP@l still haven't cashed the cheque that was sent on the 6th August and the next one will be sent soon.
The weekend was good I managed to get the bunnies outside so I have reclaimed the spare bedroom and all the upstairs rooms are clean. My daughters bedroom is a pigsty! that needs some major work but she won't let me do it, she is 15.
I've eaten some great food over the weekend (homemade) have really enjoyed cooking, I switched my shop to Morrisons which I am finding cheaper and there were loads of new vegan things for me to try.
My son goes back to school on Thursday, so it is going to be a bit strange and I feel a bit sad but he definitely needs to be back in school, home schooling is impossible whilst working full time. He is all set, I need to get a lunchbox for my daughter for next week.

  • My daughter regularly lets her room become a pigsty. I'm not sure why she does it.
To try and maintain their rooms daily my children are supposed to
    1. Deal with all clothes, dirty clothes in the washing basket, clean clothes away
    2. All rubbish in the bin
    3. All dishes, cup, glasses, cutlery returned to the kitchen
    4. All food returned to the kitchen or the appropriate bin (rubbish, compost, green cone)
    5. Make their bed
Then weekly (but not necessarily on the same day):
    1. Change the bedding
    2. Sweep
    3. Dust
Regularly they are expected to do other jobs in their rooms like clean the windows, sort through and drawer or a shelf.

This works well for ds (who is the same age as you dd) he has broken his room into small sections ie a shelf or under the bed and works on a couple a week.

Dd, on the other hand, is in the process of digging herself out of her pigsty. She knows what is expected of her and understands if she keeps it up her room should never take more than 15 minutes a day. Knowing and doing are not connected for dd, she is a work in progress. Once she has reclaimed her room and having a much needed declutter along the way. I will be stricter with her about sticking with the plan and doing it quickly so she has more time for fun.
