Disney world Orlando onsite stay

We booked an onsite stay at a Disney world hotel for may 2020, it was obviously not possible to travel so we rearranged for sept 2020.

It's possible the holiday itself will still go ahead, but it's changed a LOT from what I originally booked due to amendments/restrictions that have been out in place by Disney; i.e the dining plans have been cancelled, the fast pass system is cancelled, you can't park hop, fireworks and shows cancelled etc

I understand why and apparently Disney are taking circa 30% off bookings to account for this, however I'm booked with tui and have had no update from them or any info on what my options are.

I would hope as what I originally booked has been changed so much, a full refund would be possible, or at least a free reschedule again, but I think they are only currently doing free reschedules for dates before sept 2020.

Anyone else in the same boat and heard anything from tui, or even any other travel companies? Virgin etc so I can see how others are being dealt with?

I've tried phone, never get through, twitter and Facebook and the responses are non existent or don't actually provide any useful info other than look at our website, which again is useless for this specific query...

Thanks
Ollie

I suspect you will hear from your travel company in the next few weeks about these changes and your options.

In an effort to reopen WDW are making many changes to how the parks operate. Capacity is greatly reduced and for now I suspect they would be happy with just local and US domestic visitors.  Hence another reason why dining plans, multi-day tickets, park hopping etc have temporarily been removed.

I would expect all this is being being discussed at the movement between Disney and the travel firms, but you need to allow them time to get things sorted out. Your onsite Disney holiday and experience clearly won’t be what you are expecting and I suspect TUI/Virgin etc acknowledge this and contingent plans being made.  Time will tell.

I would watch and wait for now.

Yes I'm hoping that will be the case, but from my own personal experience since covid started, their updates and communication have been pretty dire, so I'm hoping if any other tui customers get any info, they can add it here.

Looking at similar dates next year the prices are £600-800 more PP!

The WDW issue may take some unraveling.  Disney’s operations being somewhat out of control of TUI, yet I expect a big part of their holiday programme to Orlando. No doubt a big focus needed and I expect lots of discussions going on. I doubt for now their frontline staff will know or have details so probably not worth calling them yet. Thankfully with your September departure you have time on your side.  Hold fire. Certainly don’t make hasty decisions to amend or cancel your holiday until TUI contact you or publish information about your date of departure and your WDW arrangements.
