Unable to locate Amex Application Reference Number after being immediately accepted

I recently applied for the American Express Nectar Credit Card via a link from TopCashback, who were offering £30 cashback at the time I applied about a month ago. I was immediately accepted for the card. Unfortunately the application was not tracked by TCB and I had to submit a manual cashback claim. I have been unable to proceed with this claim as TCB are requesting an Application Reference Number. I did not receive a reference number from Amex for the application as I was immediately accepted. There is no reference number on the email I received from Amex or the letter I received with the card. Has anyone here received a reference number from Amex after being immediately accepted for a card?

Have a look for an email from "AmexBankApplicationCentre@welcome.aexp.com" with the subject: "Your American Express application". This is details from the email I received when I was immediately accepted a couple months ago.
Or mayble try and search this "Any questions?
If you have any questions about your new American Express Account please call our New Accounts team on 0800 032 7404 and quote reference number"

You always receive an application reference with Amex even when accepted immediately.

My fiancee applied for a Nectar Amex and was immediately accepted, and none of the emails she received contained the reference number either. It is something that must have changed fairly recently as I have always received one with previous applications.

Give them a call during office hours, explain that you need the application reference number for a TopCashback claim. Worked for us!
  • My TCB did not track either so I called Amex and they provided me with the required application number inside a few minutes.

Never had it before in any email form. Was no dramas though. Amex were very helpful, even though the CS agent was not aware of any such cashback offer. But that's a different story.

TCB Missing cashback claim was then submitted and my transaction tracked and paid out.
