Because it isn't anyones business.  Berate?  Who do you think you are?
Or that the booking was made during lockdown when so many businesses are shut or folding.

WTH? Don't gave a go at me I'm just pointing out that when people talk about spending money like this, some member's get on their high horse as tell them they shouldn't be spending money on expensive things.

All the more reason to make bookings and try and support businesses.

Oh come on, read your post again!

Which comes over pretty strongly as you having a "pop" at the OP. If that really wasn't your intention then it is unfortunate that you phrased it the way you did.

    Well, they haven't.
We have other posts on the forum about expensive holidays, weddings, prom dresses and other unnecessary expenses - generally people aren't berating each other about them.

Good grief. So they charge £325 per head upfront just to make a reservation?
Section 75 may not apply, as not all Amex cards are credit cards, some are charge cards. OP, which kind is it? For example, a Platinum Amex is a charge card, a Rewards card is a credit card.
However, I believe that Amex will voluntarily match S75 protection on it's charge cards. anyway.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Funny how companies never have any trouble taking your money.
You have honestly never come across a situation where a company has had trouble taking payment or heard of that happening before?....

you did the right thing paying on a credit card as apposed to a debit card. the credit card company act as a third party and when things go wrong can usually be held liable. with debit card money comes straight out the bank and there is no third party. when ever I need to pay something I always use credit card.
